The first disciple (John 1:15)

We use follows like currency, who has more, how many do you follow?
If I follow you follow me back cuz otherwise it won’t be even and you’d have more

*Following has always been a Part of Human experience
- Followers and those who are followed
- Is it possible to be both at the same time?

Who has the most followers?

Do any of you try to seek out more followers?
What do you have to do to get followers?
Does it cost you anything?

verse 26 "everyone is going to him"
* For John to have followers - people had to be distracted from Jesus
John had to choose - elevate himself or someone else?

What are you a disciple of?
Does it make it weird to substitute the word disciple?
“I’m a disciple of Mr Beast” whoa really
he communicates something

If they are the influencers, what does that make you?
susceptible, the target

and you don’t really need social media
taking an interest in someone opens you up to their influence

why do you follow someone?
- you find them interesting
- you find them dangerous
- other reasons?

Are you worth following? is someone going to be better off cuz they saw what you had to say publicly?
Where are you going?
did having a good time cost you opportunity to do something else

John faced the temptation to misplace Glory and to seek it for himself

Again, this is not normal
He must increase ?!
- one or the other, you or Him
- Jesus' definition of greatness - the servant of all
- Christ followers find significance in humility
Opposite of Babel (Gen 11:4)
"come let us make a name for ourselves!"
This humility is only possible for those who have been Made New
