YOU REIGN

Dear Midway Parents,

What an amazing opportunity and privilege we have to disciple your children at Midway while developing future worship leaders along the way. I’m so excited to announce that our children at Midway will be singing “You Reign” during the worship service on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023. I’ve included the audio file and song lyrics to help you prepare your children at home. My desire for the attached song and devotional is to encourage the spirit of worship in the hearts of our children and provide a resource for the entire family.

Start by spending time listening and singing the song together with your children. Then read through the devotional and spend time thinking, talking to each other and praying. Finish by taking action together on how God directs you to respond to His truth.

My hope is that this song along with the devotional will be a resource to help draw your family closer together while growing closer to our heavenly Father. So, listen to the song, open the devotional, and enjoy your time together as a family.

Serving Him together,

David Glenn / Worship Pastor

Song Lyrics:

Intro
Whoa, Whoa

Verse 1
You are God alone
You're seated high on heavens throne
And now humbly we come
Laying our crowns at Your feet
Creator of all things
You hold the world in the palm of Your hands
Now we sing how marvelous
How wonderful You are

Chorus
Jesus You reign, You reign our glorious King
Forever and ever eternity sings hallelujah, Jesus You reign
Over all of the earth and the heavens above
Forever and ever Your kingdom come hallelujah,
Jesus You reign

Whoa, Whoa

Verse 2
Blind but now I see
Catching a glimpse of royalty
This moment in time
Longing to be where You are
And our desire to see
This world embrace Your majesty
And we'll sing how marvelous
How wonderful You are

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
Now we're joining with the angels
In the presence of the King
Louder than creation
Let every nation sing

Chorus 2
Jesus You reign, You reign our glorious King
Forever and ever eternity sings hallelujah (Jesus You Reign)

Jesus You reign, You reign our glorious King
Forever and ever eternity sings hallelujah, Jesus You reign
Over all of the earth and the heavens above
Forever and ever Your kingdom come hallelujah
Jesus You reign

Devotional:

Jesus is the King who reigns over all!

Read:

Luke 19:36-40

Thought:

In this passage in Luke, we see the people acknowledge that Jesus was King. To be King meant that you had control over things—you reigned over the people and their lives. Just like on that day long ago, Jesus is King and desires to be your personal King and reign in your life.

Time Together:

Imagine what it was for the disciples to watch Jesus ride in on a donkey and to be declared King. What do you think it looked like, smelled like, and felt like as they experienced it? What does it mean that God is King and that He reigns? How do the words of the song give us insight into answering that question? What are ways that individually or as a family you can worship God as King and the One who reigns?

Take Action:

As a family, take a sheet of paper and write on it “Jesus is King of (fill in the blank) family.” Decorate it as desired. Everyone signs their name as a declaration of that truth. Place it in an area of your home where you can see and be reminded of the truth that Jesus reigns in your home.

Talk to God:

Dear Jesus, just like the people did long ago, we cry out that You are our King. We praise Your name that You reign and are our glorious King. We ask that You reign over our home, our family, and our individual lives. Help us to continue to remember that You are King and we are not. We ask that praise to You as King would be in our hearts and in our words on a daily basis.

We'd love to hear from you!
